Day 22 Luxor

Today was the day for being a tourist! Our goal for Luxor was to see the Valley of the Kings and the temple of Hatshepsut. Luckily (one of) the local tourist information points had a tour just for us! Salem and his driver took us on a private tour of the sites.

This is the only picture from the Valley of the Kings, as we sere not allowed to take the camera inside the area. We were given a pass to visit 3 tombs. Amazing how the paintings have lasted for over 3000 years. Wonder if this blog will exist in the year 5010?
Included in the price was a visit to a shop where they sold stones. :)
And finally back at our nice safe hotel where we spent the afternoon by the pool... ah the life of the tourist!

Day 21 Luxor

Since we arrived at 3:00 in the morning, this day was reserved for sleeping and staying by the pool. In the evening we bought tickets for the train to Cairo and walked through the tourist marked, getting special offers and friend-prices everywhere we rested our eyes for more than 0.3 seconds.

Day 20 Lombardia-Cairo-Luxor

The faces below are from the hard life we have been having in the last 3 weeks... having holidays is realy tiring.

Anyway, this morning we had breakfast in the hotel terrace, sun, coffee/tee and croissant....mmmm perfect. Before lunch we packed the car and headed to the airport. We had 3 hours before the plane was due to leave and thought that would be plenty. But it wasn't, arriving with the rental car at the wrong terminal (thanks to Avis instructions) didn't help.

We arrived in Cairo and had to make the check-in (for Luxor) again since we had two separates tickets.
Note: Egyptian airports are made in the wrong way. Security, check in, security?

Well finally we arrived in Luxor at 2 am, hoping to find the hotel car waiting for us...there was no one from the hotel, so we took a taxi...not fun

Day 19 Mestre-Lombardia

Last day before leaving Europe!! We drove from Mestre to a town one and a half hour from Milano airport, for a relaxing day in fresh mountain air, and the luxury of a Spa hotel. The view was great.. the Spa probably also.. when they finish it in 2012...

Day 18 venice

Ohhh well, Venice could have been nicer an much more fun, but the weather was terrible and it rained almost the whole day. Luckily they sold "quality" ponchos for "reasonable" prices.

For lunch we had Chinese food.....and for dinner? Chinese! And for breakfast next morning?..... ;)
